Floquet hydride paper published in npj Comput. Mater.

Our paper about Floquet hydride superconductivity has been published in npj Computational Materials! Congrats to Chendi, Weichih, and Haoran. This work proposes a dynamical approach to enhance electron-phonon coupling in LaH10, which leads to transient room-temperature superconductivity.

Welcome staff scientist Bin Yan

We’re excited to welcome a staff scientist, Dr. Bin Yan, to our group! Bin obtained his Ph.D. degree in physics from Purdue University in the 2019. Before joining Emory, Bin was a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

XIII Ultrafast Dynamics Symposium

Yao was invited again this year to speak at the the 13th International Symposium on Ultrafast Dynamics and Ultrafast Bandgap Photonics held at Hersonissos, Greece, delivering the presentation about light control of entanglement and spin-triplet superconductivity

Symmetry-protected metastability published in Nat. Mater.

Our collaborative paper (with Prof. Mitrano) about orbital-symmetry protected metastable state, has been published in Nature Materials! Congrats to Zecheng and Logan, who led the theory and simulations. This work revealed that orbital symmetry has intrinsic protection for electronic metastability, which can be triggered off instantaneously by laser pulses, leading to long-lifetime nonequilibrium states.

Jordyn’s Ph.D. graduation

Congratulations to Jordyn Hales, the first Ph.D. graduate from our group! Jordyn led several innovative projects in X-ray theory and time-resolved RIXS, with a notable contribution to the identification of light-induced entanglement. Jordyn was also awarded the prestigious DOE SCGSR Fellowship, closely collaborating with leading X-ray experimentalists.

Harvard Radcliffe Workshop on Entanglement

Yao gave an invited talk about entanglement witness in electronic systems at the workshop “Entanglement in Quantum Materials and Beyond” hosted by the Harvard Radcliffe Institute.

Machine-learning phase transition paper published in Newton

Our collaborative paper with Dr. Liu and Dr. He, which uses domain-adversarial machine learning to identify fluctuating and long-range ordered superconductivity from ARPES spectrum, has been published in Newton! Our story is also selected as the cover! Congrats to Xu and Yuanjie, who led the development of method. This work solved the long-standing scarcity of…

Nature Conference

Yao gave a talk about electron-phonon coupling in TBG at the Nature Conference on Competing Orders in Quantum Materials.

APS Global Physics Summit 2025

Our entire group participated in the APS Global Physics Summit in Anaheim. Haoran, Zecheng, Chendi, Prakash, Tongtong, and Luogen presented their papers.

Electron-doped cuprate paper published in Nature Communications

Our collaborative paper about hole pocket superconductivity in electron-doped cuprates has been published in Nature Communications! Congrats to Zecheng, who carried out all theoretical simulations. This work revealed the coexisting large and small Fermi surface in electron-doped cuprates and the correlation between superconductivity and the hole-pocket.
